Nude Finish Illuminating Powder in Bare: Bobbi Brown review

Cast your minds back to earlier in the year when I shared with you my Bridal Makeup Tutorial with Bobbi Brown and the products I purchased to use on my wedding day in April.  You’ll remember that I fell in love with the Nude Finish Illuminating Power, but they were sold out at the time, and then so did my budget.

However, when my best friend got married in September, I seized the opportunity to purchase the nude finish illuminating powder to use for our makeup.

I fell in love with the Nude Finish Illuminating Powder (in Bare) for several reasons -the packaging, the product itself, and the finish it gives to my skin.

The Packaging

I love Bobbi Brown packaging, it’s always so sturdy, so simple, and yet so appealing to the eye. Asides from the products I purchased for my wedding, I also have Bobbi Brown’s French Pink Set (blusher) and nail polish in Tuxedo Black. The Nude Finish Illuminating Powder is set in a beautiful beige coloured casing with a mirror on the inside of the lid, which is always a thumbs up for beauty product packaging.

Nude finish illuminating powder in Bare: the product

Looking at the product itself, I can tell how some people -myself included- can be alarmed at how shimmery the powder looks upon first sight, worried that it’ll make your face look like a glitter ball. However, this is far from the case, the powder is incredibly light and upon application, hardly any shimmer in sight; you need the lightest dusting to comfortably set any product underneath. Additionally, this nude finish illuminating powder can also double up as highlight by building product where you need it to on your face.

The nude finish illuminating powder retails at £39 which is a lot, but I think when you feel comfortable to gradually purchase and replace existing high street products for more high end ones, this isn’t too bad, especially also as it will last you a long time. Owing to a minor accident when cleaning my makeup table the other week, my Rimmel powder got dropped and consequently smashed, therefore rather than replacing it, I moved the nude finish illuminating powder into my everyday makeup stash. I’ve also done this with the Bobbi Brown foundation stick as why buy these products, if you’re only going to save them for special occasions? Use them, and enjoy them!

What are your favourite high-end products?

Until next time x
