New liquid peels from The Body Shop – the Drops of Light & Drops of Youth ranges

I’m here with two new products from The Body Shop today in the form of liquid peels*, one from each of the Drops of Youth and Drops of Light ranges.

I have spoken about some of the Drops of Light range previously when I reviewed the new Essence Lotion and Pure Clarifying Foam Wash. The only other product I have tried from the Drops of Youth range was the eye concentrate (here) which while I liked, I thought it wasn’t something I would end up persisting with.

Liquid peels are not something I’m too aware of trying before so I was both intrigued and excited by these liquid peels when they arrived for me to try out.

‘Transforming gel-to-peel technology that traps and gently peels off impurities, pollutants and dead skin cells to reveal fresh and youthful-looking skin (Drops of Youth)/unveil healthy-looking bright skin (Drops of Light) from 1st use.”

Liquid peels packaging

I don’t know about you, but I love a decent dispenser on a product’s packaging and given the choice, I will always go for a bottle with a pump. The Body Shop already scored highly with their choice of packaging because of this.

Liquid peels application

The advice given to apply the liquid peels (not at the same time obviously), is to dispense two pumps of product into your hand and massage over your face for 20 seconds until clumps begin to form.

Both liquid peels are a clear formula and I have to tell you that the ‘clumps’ that form quite quickly upon use make these liquid peels probably the most bizarre skincare products I now own.

The only way I can really describe what happens is basically by saying, when you try to clean a paper based label off of a glass jar (for example) and you have to scrub at it, you know it forms and disintegrates into tiny soggy lumps? It’s basically that. It’s one of those things that you’ll know exactly what I mean once you try these liquid peels for yourself.

That aside, both liquid peels are super easy to dispense, easy to massage into your face, and equally easy to wash off afterwards with cold water. While they do exfoliate, it’s very gentle.

Results

The instructions on both of the liquid peels suggest using the products two-three times a week will result in a complexion that appears smoother, refined and even (Drops of Light)/more luminous (Drops of Youth) with continued use.

Owing to the type of formula, not to mention the very nature of the type of product, I think you’d struggle to not notice a difference to your skin following regular use of the liquid peels.

If you’re into your double cleansing, you’ll love these as you apply the product onto a cleansed, dry face. I’m not a daily double-cleanser but on the days that I do go for it, I remove my makeup with either The Body Shop’s Chamomile cleansing butter or Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean; followed by the Dr Botanicals Moroccan rose superfood facial oil, before a generous layer of the Dr Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Night Cream.

Do you think you would try out these new liquid peels from The Body Shop? Or maybe you have tried something similar?

Until next time x
