American Eagle Outfitters Fashion Haul – USA & UK

Hey Sweeties,

I blimmin’ LOVE American Eagle Outfitters. I really do. Ever since I first went to New York City way back in 2007 and stepped into a store, I have loved the brand. Fortunately since visiting the States, American Eagle Outfitters have opened in the UK (I think just in Westfield?!) so I can now shop both here and across the Atlantic -win!

In today’s haul post, I thought I would combine the pieces I purchased from Westfield (London) earlier in the year, and the pieces I picked up on my honeymoon back in May (yes, still to tell you about it, I know, it’s coming -promise!).

American Eagle Outfitters Haul

There are three key things I love about American Eagle Outfitters

1. Affordability, particularly in a sale;

2. Quality;

3. Laid-back casual vibe of their clothing and accessories; they are great for layering, or wearing as stand alone pieces. In previous hauls, I have always stocked up on their hoodies and t-shirts, and thrown in the odd bit of jewellery here and there.

Small note – I didn’t really think it through properly when I photographed the haul as the pieces are mixed rather than divided by USA and UK. Opps, sorry. Bear with.

Spring Haul feat. Miss Guided; Boo Hoo; Very; Miss Pap; American Eagle & Miss Selfridge

Hey Sweeties,

I feel like I haven’t done a haul post in FOREVER… that’s not to say I haven’t been haulin’ though, it means I just haven’t had the time/weather/patience/opportunity etc. to shoot everything. Normally, when I’ve fashion hauled I either photograph it on which involves standing in the garden with my camera on a tripod and the self-timer; or occasionally I have made use of the washing line (for example here). Today, I have tried something new… the fashion flat lay!

My spring haul has been building since January when I picked up a couple of bits in the sales, and then gradually over the past couple of months I have been adding to it. At the end of April I am off on honeymoon to America (so freakin’ excited!) for a couple of weeks, so I am also beginning to look at my current wardrobe and identify any gaps for warmer weather attire that I might need for my trip. So without further ado, here are some of my recent purchases –

Autumn Haul feat. ASOS, TK MAXX, New Look & Primark

Hey Sweeties,

Never one to be rushed into being excited for a season before it is here, now summer has well and truly past, I now welcome everything the colder months bring (except the darkness, I love long summer days). While my work wardobe needs a bit more of an update to adequately cope with aumtumn/winter, in my weekend wardobe I haven’t needed a lot to refresh it slightly. I doubt I am done buying any more, but for now I love my most recent autumn picks, here they are –

Autumn Haul

ASOS Oversized long woven scarf in pink leopard: I love scarves, I can never have too many although like my attitude to other items in my wardrobe, I try to fill gaps rather than purchase items too similar to something else I already own. If you remember last winter, I rarely left the house without my gorgeous River Island animal print scarf (see it here), however unfortunately, when my beautiful bunny Lola suddenly died back in April, I had to use the scarf to take her home in and understandably, while I have washed it since, it brings unhappy memories for me now. I have never owned a big oversized scarf so when I saw this one on ASOS, I just had to have it!

Boohoo cable rib knit jumper (purchased via ASOS): What’s autumn without a good cream cable knit jumper? I love this one from Boohoo, I like how it is longer at the back and the cable knit pattern is just at the front.

David & Young Bobble Hat (purchased at TK MAXX): I don’t always suit beanie style hats but I really love the style of bobble hats and I couldn’t resist this one.

ASOS Velvet Cat Cross Body Bag: I don’t usually purchase clothing or accessories that I deem to be too distinctive to one particular shop, or too popular because God forbid I have that moment whereby I walk past someone, or rock up to work wearing the same thing as someone else. That being said, when I saw this little velvet cat bag on Zoella’s recent autumn lookbook, I couldn’t resist. It’s just that bit too small to fit my current purse into, but it is otherwise a lovely sized bag and ideal when you’re not needing to carry around a lot.

Autumn Haul

New Look Animal Print Skirt: I had my eye on this skirt for ages before finally purchasing it when it had 25% off a couple of weeks ago. You guys know how much I love animal print clothing and accessories (here) and this is another fun piece to add to my collection and so easy to wear both casually, and in the work place.

Autumn Haul

D&Y Cape (Purchased at TK MAXX): I love capes and wraps, I think they add a real point of interest to an outfit and I love this one I recently purchased. For me, they are ideal to wear when it’s cold enough to need layers, but you might not need the thickness of a big heavy coat.

Primark Long Sleeved Khaki Green Dress: These types of dresses are becoming such a work staple at the moment as they are so easy to wear paired with tights and either flats or boots. This one from Primark I love, but the fabric is very figure hugging so while it’s very comfortable to wear, I will always wear it with a big scarf or chunky knit cardigan to take the attention away from my front. I am not fat by any means but not everyone likes their womanly curves to be quite on show -you get me?

Autumn Haul

ASOS Totes Furry Rabbit Boot Slippers: I’ve been in need of a new pair of slippers for months and being a rabbit fan, I just love this pair of slipper boots from ASOS. While I argue they look more like lambs than bunnies (although the back of the slipper has little white bunny tail), they are still very cute and VERY comfortable!

Primark Rabbit patterned Pajama bottoms: I love Primark for pajamas, who doesn’t?! I of course had to pick up this pair of bunny patterned ones on a recent visit!

What are you autumn essentials?

Summer Haul featuring New Look, ASOS & Mango | August Blogs

Hey Sweeties,

To kick off this month of blogging every day -which aside from being in celebration of my soon-to-be-birthday, is for no other reason than because I want to; call me crazy but I just cannot wait until Blogmas in December!- I thought we’d begin with a summer haul.

Even though much of my summer wardrobe is simply revived pieces from the year(s) previous, I do still feel the need to update and introduce some new clothing and accessories into the regular mix of items. And let’s be honest, there’s always room for a bit more when a shopping urge takes over!

I have made the following purchases across the last month or two, and a couple of the items you have already seen in recent posts on here and/or Instagram. But I thought you would still be interested in seeing a collective summer haul of everything I have recently purchased.

Summer Haul

Let’s begin with ASOS –

Girls on Film blouse in tropical print with lace trim – I wore this to the recent Bloggers Hangout Summer event (here) because it seemed to fit the ‘summer garden chic’ outfit brief perfectly. It rests about hip height which is a tad too short for me because I don’t like exposing my midriff, so I wear a long vest top underneath which adds that additional cover I need. This blouse is a total summertime hit, see it in more detail here!

Only Aztec print shirt – I love pattern, particularly in the workplace as it’s an easy way to add a level of interest to an otherwise fairly plain look. This shirt caught my eye as a piece that will do well throughout the year. I have a category dedicated to dressing for work if you want to see more content around work wear (a sneaky FYI!), which you can access under ‘fashion’ on the main navigation bar above. I’ll style this piece up for you soon!

Summer haul

ASOS Swing cardigan with suede look star elbow patches – I seem to never have enough cardigans, (or jumpers for that matter) but I seem to really struggle in spending a lot for them. When I saw this one in the sale, it was exactly the style I like and I love the star patches on the elbows; I have no doubt this will be worn for years to come.

Summer haul

ASOS Seersucker button through beach dress – You’ll remember I wore this dress to the British Grand Prix recently (here) and aside from being an incredibly light, maybe-not-British-weather-practical fabric (hence it being a ‘beach dress’), I love it! It can be worn on its own, over the top of leggings, with cardigans, jumpers…

New Look

Cream cotton dungaree pinafore dress – This was a bit of a scary purchase and I half expected that I would end up taking it back because I doubted if the look would be a bit young for me, or whether I could simply pull it off. As it happened, it’s turned into a really fun piece, particularly because I don’t buy into a lot of the core fashion trends. Dungarees definitely don’t suit everybody and this is why I’ve gone for a dress over shorts or trousers. I have no doubt I’ll continue to wear them throughout the coming months.

Summer Haul -pinafore dungarees

White animal print bomber jacket – For the same reason I purchased my other patterned bomber jacket earlier in the year (see that post here), is the same reason why I purchased this one… and also to reiterate my point about how much I love patterned pieces! I have a post coming really soon about my love for animal print clothing and accessories.

Mango

Animal print long sleeved blouse – Need I explain why I purchased this blouse? I don’t think so! It’ll feature in the not-too-distant future in a work outfit post so watch this space to see how I’ll style it for the workplace.

Summer haul -animal print blouse

Necklace – My jewellery collection needs a huge update, particularly for statement pieces so adding this piece to my haul was a no brainer; I love the pop of yellow with the gold.

Summer haul -mango necklace

Zebra print leather bag – Because Zebra! An updated what’s in my bag post will be coming later this week so you can see it in more detail.

January Sales Haul

Hey Sweeties,

Firstly I have to apologise, owing to the horrendous recent weather and crap winter lighting, I had to photograph my January sales haul indoors. I also didn’t put on any makeup hence why I have cut my face off some of the images because I just looked too terrible. Is this good enough, Sweeties? No, it’s not. But I hope you’ll forgive me this one time and appreciate it is down to circumstances and me trying to make the best of a bad photography situation and not actually a true reflection of my effort or commitment to post quality content.

Right, confession over, let’s get on with the post shall we?

Unlike previous years where I have been known to have a fairly big blow out in the January sales, this year I haven’t scaled the high street stripping the rails of fashion finds, instead I have literally just shopped in two places –River Island and Missguided. Mostly this was owing to time (I haven’t had any), and also I don’t need a lot to be honest and why spend money for the sake of it?

I love River Island sales, you really can get some great stuff in them and from my local store I picked up three items: A dark yellow 3/4 sleeved top; a loose fitting black mesh knitted top, and a pair of checked leggings.

January Sales Haul -River Island

I ummed and ahhh’ed over the leggings for ages but I am so pleased I bought them in the end -they fit perfectly (they have a zip at the back) and are a bit of fun. Where possible, I try and always incorporate a pattern or a bold colour in an outfit and usually achieve this best at work. While the leggings might not be work appropriate, the tops definitely are. Last year I bought another yellow top from River Island and when it’s paired with black skinnies it looks fab -check out my How To Nail an Interview post where I’ve featured the look for you previously. I otherwise actually think all three pieces are quite versatile and can be matched with so many other items in my existing wardrobe.

Now, Missguided!

I bought: Gold buckle detail cigarette trousers in nude; a tailored pair of cigarette trousers in burgundy; A black vertical sheer stripe t-shirt; and a scallop hem mini skirt in nude. I also purchased a wrapped front jersey midi skirt but it looked terrible (not to mention creased) so that’s going back.

I am really pleased with each of my purchases particularly when they are bought online as you can never be 100% sure of how an item will appear when it’s not on a tall skinny model. Essentially I was looking for some easy work pieces and that’s exactly what I have got -my favourite purchase is definitely the scallop hemmed skirt (above), it pairs so brilliantly with a black top and it has pockets!!

What great finds have you guys picked up in the sales?

Until next time x
