Spring fashion haul feat. Miss Guided; Boohoo; Very; Miss Pap; American Eagle & Miss Selfridge

Spring fashion haul. I feel like I haven’t done a haul post in FOREVER… that’s not to say I haven’t been haulin’ though, it means I just haven’t had the time/weather/patience/opportunity etc. to shoot everything.

Normally, when I’ve fashion hauled I either photograph it on which involves standing in the garden with my camera on a tripod and the self-timer; or occasionally I have made use of the washing line (for example here). Today, I have tried something new… the fashion flat lay!

My spring fashion haul has been building since January when I picked up a couple of bits in the sales, and then gradually over the past couple of months I have been adding to it.

At the end of April I am off on honeymoon to America (so freakin’ excited!) for a couple of weeks, so I am also beginning to look at my current wardrobe and identify any gaps for warmer weather attire that I might need for my trip. So without further ado, here are some of my recent purchases –

A Choker for Every Taste – Choker Nation Review | Blogmas Day 3

Hey Sweeties,

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Faith over at Choker Nation, a company she founded back in July this year, specialising in handmade, personalised chokers to suit every taste. Faith kindly sent me some sample chokers and I am excited to show you them on the blog today.

In case you have had your head in the sand, chokers seem to be this season’s big trend in the fashion world. I used to wear choker style necklaces in my very early teens, but I until recently hadn’t revisited the trend.

Autumn Haul feat. ASOS, TK MAXX, New Look & Primark

Hey Sweeties,

Never one to be rushed into being excited for a season before it is here, now summer has well and truly past, I now welcome everything the colder months bring (except the darkness, I love long summer days). While my work wardobe needs a bit more of an update to adequately cope with aumtumn/winter, in my weekend wardobe I haven’t needed a lot to refresh it slightly. I doubt I am done buying any more, but for now I love my most recent autumn picks, here they are –

Autumn Haul

ASOS Oversized long woven scarf in pink leopard: I love scarves, I can never have too many although like my attitude to other items in my wardrobe, I try to fill gaps rather than purchase items too similar to something else I already own. If you remember last winter, I rarely left the house without my gorgeous River Island animal print scarf (see it here), however unfortunately, when my beautiful bunny Lola suddenly died back in April, I had to use the scarf to take her home in and understandably, while I have washed it since, it brings unhappy memories for me now. I have never owned a big oversized scarf so when I saw this one on ASOS, I just had to have it!

Boohoo cable rib knit jumper (purchased via ASOS): What’s autumn without a good cream cable knit jumper? I love this one from Boohoo, I like how it is longer at the back and the cable knit pattern is just at the front.

David & Young Bobble Hat (purchased at TK MAXX): I don’t always suit beanie style hats but I really love the style of bobble hats and I couldn’t resist this one.

ASOS Velvet Cat Cross Body Bag: I don’t usually purchase clothing or accessories that I deem to be too distinctive to one particular shop, or too popular because God forbid I have that moment whereby I walk past someone, or rock up to work wearing the same thing as someone else. That being said, when I saw this little velvet cat bag on Zoella’s recent autumn lookbook, I couldn’t resist. It’s just that bit too small to fit my current purse into, but it is otherwise a lovely sized bag and ideal when you’re not needing to carry around a lot.

New Look Animal Print Skirt: I had my eye on this skirt for ages before finally purchasing it when it had 25% off a couple of weeks ago. You guys know how much I love animal print clothing and accessories (here) and this is another fun piece to add to my collection and so easy to wear both casually, and in the work place.

Autumn Haul

D&Y Cape (Purchased at TK MAXX): I love capes and wraps, I think they add a real point of interest to an outfit and I love this one I recently purchased. For me, they are ideal to wear when it’s cold enough to need layers, but you might not need the thickness of a big heavy coat.

Primark Long Sleeved Khaki Green Dress: These types of dresses are becoming such a work staple at the moment as they are so easy to wear paired with tights and either flats or boots. This one from Primark I love, but the fabric is very figure hugging so while it’s very comfortable to wear, I will always wear it with a big scarf or chunky knit cardigan to take the attention away from my front. I am not fat by any means but not everyone likes their womanly curves to be quite on show -you get me?

Autumn Haul

ASOS Totes Furry Rabbit Boot Slippers: I’ve been in need of a new pair of slippers for months and being a rabbit fan, I just love this pair of slipper boots from ASOS. While I argue they look more like lambs than bunnies (although the back of the slipper has little white bunny tail), they are still very cute and VERY comfortable!

Primark Rabbit patterned Pajama bottoms: I love Primark for pajamas, who doesn’t?! I of course had to pick up this pair of bunny patterned ones on a recent visit!

What are you autumn essentials?

Until next time x

My Love for Animal Print Fashion & Accessories

Hey Sweeties,

In this post I have collated together some (not all) of my favourite animal print patterned fashion clothing and accessories from my collection, a couple of which you will have seen on either here, or my Instagram… or if you know me personally, on me while out and about, before. It’s also apt that I have been putting together this post at the same time the fashion press has also gone wild for it, so there’s no doubt that currently, animal print patterned clothing and accessories are IN! But this love of animal print won’t disappear with next seasons trends, this has been something I have loved for years and will continue to do so for many more to come.

Let’s be clear, I would NEVER wear or buy real animal fur or skin items, I don’t even like leather jackets to be honest, but I love replica prints as they add so much fun to an outfit, and/or to the home. If you’re not careful, too much print can look a bit road kill (excuse the term), but when partnered correctly with other clothing and accessories, it can look so effective. For me, animal print adds that pop of colour and fun to an outfit or the home that I just adore.

The Patterned Scarf

Quite possibly the easiest way to introduce some print and colour into an otherwise simple and/or plain outfit, and particularly good for those not quite confident enough to wear anything more bold.

The Newest Addition to my TDS Bomber Jacket Collection, ‘ETI’| August Blogs

Hey Sweeties,

Every now and again, sometimes you get the urge to buy something impulsively that even though you may never be brave enough to wear out, you buy because to you it articulates a part of your personality that few people know you have. This for me, is my latest bomber jacket from TDS (The Design Studio), called ‘ETI’. I saw her and I was like, yes!

I’m not going to lie to you, I am hugely biased in my love for TDS but I think you guys know me well enough by now that I don’t rave about products, brands and clothing unless I am motivated by anything other than genuine honesty and love for them. In case you do happen to be a first time visitor to my little space on the internet, the mother daughter duo behind The Design Studio are in fact my Godmother, Sally and her daughter, Lettie. You met these guys first on here when I spent the weekend with them (here); then my delight at being sent a jacket for my birthday (here); when they got featured in Teen Vogue (here); and most recently what they designed for me for my wedding (here).

Some years ago, when I was at school I loved nothing more than to dress a bit differently to everyone else, it was who I was and a way for me to stand out a bit. Non-uniform ‘mufty’ days were my favourite and meticulous planning would take place in the week or two leading up to the day to ensure my outfit conveyed exactly what I wanted. I remember going through a bit of a hippy phase in my early teens, and then in my mid-late teens I turned quite gothic but I liked then being defined in that way. You then get older and you don’t want to stand out in the same way, for some reason it’s no longer right too, it’s not mature enough. I mean, that’s okay as there are still ways to define your own style that says a lot about your personality. For me, I am still ETI inside, I am still warm, fluffy and fun but this shit thing called anxiety sometimes gets in the way and I lack the confidence to wear certain things and properly convey the person I am. This is of course, ridiculous. I am nearly thirty years old, who honestly is going to say anything? It’s not the playground anymore. But isn’t this jacket absolutely wonderful? I love the fluffy pink fabric with the polka dots.

What do you guys think? Do you have an item of clothing that represents your personality? Do you have the confidence to wear it?

Until next time x
