Goodbye to the Old & Hello to the New!

Hi Sweeties,

Firstly it’s great that a few of you have already started following my blog so thank you, it means a lot to me and equally ensures I will try and post regularly.

In my ‘Welcome’ entry, I mentioned that 2014 is gearing up to be a really exciting year and one of those reasons is that I begin a new job in January that I am really looking forward to! Without repeating myself, take a read of ‘My Graduate Experience’ on my No ifs No Buts blog which will bring you up to speed with my life, education and work until now. My next role is as the Communications Assistant within a large global outsourcing company so very different to my current company which is a small but expanding telecommunications business. Initially I will be on a 12 month contract covering my predecessor’s maternity leave but I hope it will turn into a permanent position. We’ll have to wait and see!

However, as we all know, if you have a new job it means you are leaving an old one behind and I couldn’t be sadder to be leaving my current company! I know I need to for my own professional development (damn ambition!) but I really have never fitted in so well somewhere before as I do here. Last night we all went out for a delicious Chinese meal at the Mayflower restaurant in Basingstoke which was partly a Christmas do and partly my leaving party. The food was amazing and we all just had a cracking time; lots of laughs and good conversation! But inevitably as we were about to sip our coffees, a glass got chinked and my Boss stood up and made a speech about the evening before focussing on me and how much they wish me all the best but really sad to see me go. Now, I have to let you all know Sweeties, that I have a bit of a reputation for crying at goodbye dos, a colleague left in May who was the one that saw the potential in me and encouraged my employment almost a year ago and I bawled my eyes out at his leaving party –so embarrassing! So naturally, everyone was watching me closely to see if I was going to do a repeat performance… good news, I didn’t but I did well up and shed a small tear or two, I was proud of myself to be honest for remaining so composed, ha!

Work gave me a beautiful leaving present, I love them!
