Hilton at the Ageas Bowl Southampton Hotel: A Room with a View | Review

If you cast your mind back to last year to my 29 things before thirty post, I listed staying at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl Southampton hotel and watching some cricket from the balcony as something I wanted to do. My husband and I have spent many a day at the Ageas Bowl watching the cricket and we were excited at the prospect of trying out the Hilton once the building of it was completed.

However, when we looked into a night’s stay for some of the key cricket games we wanted to see, the hotel was either fully booked or over our budget so for a while I thought this was something we weren’t going to be able to do. THEN our 1st wedding anniversary happened to coincide with a friendly start of the season match and so we were finally able to try out the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl hotel.

Our anniversary fell on a Sunday, so on the day we casually made our way down to the Ageas Bowl. Although we were a little bit early, our room was ready so we headed straight to our room.

For our one-night’s stay, Ian booked us a deluxe Queen room which had its own balcony that overlooks the Ageas Bowl cricket pitch. The room, located on the second floor, was air conditioned, and included wifi, a 42″ high definition TV, tea and coffee facilities and an en-suite bathroom. It was also spacious and very comfortable, both to relax in, sleep, and of course to watch the cricket.

The en-suite bathroom was modern, luxurious, spacious and clean with a large walk-in shower. I like how the room and the bathroom was lightly in-keeping with the cricket with some carefully placed pictures on the walls, like the one above.

As I mentioned above, the whole point on wanting to stay in the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl was to be able to sit out on the balcony and watch the cricket. Even if you weren’t into cricket, you would be nuts to not want a pitch facing hotel room because the view is beautiful.

Once we had settled into the room, we were quick to pop open the champagne to toast and celebrate our first wedding anniversary. I just can’t believe how fast the last 12 months have disappeared too, but I also love that our newlywed vibe has been and is able to continue until our honeymoon at the end of this month. So many couples delay their honeymoon until after their wedding, and for this was a good decision; you can put all your energy into your big day, recover from it, then put your energy into planning a super holiday!

We woke up the next morning to the Ageas Bowl blanketed in fog.

On the Sunday evening, we booked into Beefy’s restaurant for dinner and drinks and had a lovely experience. Our waiter was even kind enough to bring us a glass of champagne each when he learnt of our anniversary. Breakfast the following morning was also very good and we had it included as part of our deal.

Overall, our stay at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl was fantastic, we absolutely loved it and are eager to find another opportunity in the near future to book another night’s stay.

Until next time x
