S Club 7: Bring it all Back Tour 2015

S Club 7 bring it all back tour 2015

I went to see S Club 7 at The O2 for their Bring it all Back Tour 2015 and it was fantastic!

Back in their hey day, I was a big fan of S Club 7 but never got a chance to see them in concert, unlike my best friend Kate who saw them at least twice before they split up, so I was really excited to finally get a chance to see them all these years later.

For those that saw them perform on Children in Need last autumn, there was a concern that they might not be quite up to scratch, particularly lead singer, Jo whose vocals didn’t appear to be at the level that they once were. However, despite this, the opportunity to see them live wasn’t going to be passed up.

Arriving at The O2, Kate and I had a quick dinner in Wagamama’s before we headed into the venue and it was a good couple of hours of waiting before the support act came on. Now, here I have some beef.

Firstly, it was some DJ guy who properly turned the beats on, but in The O2 it just didn’t work. Had he been in a club (in Ibiza), he would have been amazing. Secondly, turned out he wasn’t the support act, he was just introducing the support act so the actual support act turned out to be a Justin Bieber wannabe called AJ Lehrman.

Nothing against the lad but I had an issue with why we had to have a teenager from the States rather than supporting acts from our own shores (the UK)? Also, considering most of the audience were in their late twenties and older, it was just all a bit inappropriate to have a teeny bopper for entertainment. What should have happened was the DJ man should have bashed out 90’s hits and got us all fired up and motivated that way.

When S Club 7 finally came on stage (they weren’t late but we had been at The O2 for four hours at this point!), all those initial concerns and nerves about whether they were up to doing an arena tour disappeared; they smashed it!

The band played all their greatest hits, some solo tunes (speculation suggested that Tina and quite possibly Hannah, mimed -not said negatively as it didn’t take away from the performance, I am just noting it for the record). In all they performed 21 songs, (Never had a Dream and Don’t Stop Movin’ were left until the encore) and they did well to balance the show out with high energy tunes and slower numbers.

Paul’s acoustic rendition of Reach did bring down early energy which took a bit of work to get everyone back up again but on the whole, I haven’t danced so much in ages!

My final bit of beef though would be that I am not sure why it had to start and end so late being a Sunday when most of us had work the next day, let alone not all live in London? It has meant that I have been knackered all week and while trying to learn the ropes in a new job, the two don’t go together.

However, overall it was a cracking night and I am so, so pleased I went!

Until next time x
