First Impressions: British Beauty Brand Glo & Ray Makeup

Hey Sweeties,

If you cast your mind back to the Blogosphere Valentine’s Tea Party (here), you’ll have seen that one of the brands I met at the event were Glo & Ray, a brand to be honest I had never heard of.

Glo & Ray is a British company, drawing inspiration from the natural wonder of light. They look at harnessing each woman’s natural radiance to deliver a stunning collection designed to illuminate individual beauty.

Soap & Glory Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen Review

Hey Sweeties,

I feel like I haven’t bought any new makeup in ages and part of this is because while I love building a decent collection of makeup, I am definitely in a phase (which applies to other areas of my life) whereby I just don’t want to spend money unless I really need to. Of course I still spend money but I really do think about that purchase and if I really need it in my life. I’ve got a post on this coming soon whereby I talk through this more, but I did purchase a couple of new beauty bits recently and the first I am going to talk to you about is the Soap & Glory Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen.

The Packaging

Beginning with the packaging, the Soap & Glory Supercat Carbon Black Extreme Eyeliner Pen is really pleasing to the eye; the eyeliner pen itself comes in the cardboard tube packaging which has classic Soap & Glory branding on the sides.

Christmas Makeup using the Sleek Goodnight Sweetheart Palette | Blogmas Day 12

Hey Sweeties,

A few weeks ago I reviewed the limited edition Sleek Goodnight Sweetheart i-Divine eye shadow palette (here), and I said that I would show you a look using the palette, which will be ideal to recreate over Christmas (well, not in those exact words but you know what I mean).

Some people prefer to do their eye makeup before applying the rest of their face (foundation etc.), particularly if it’s a look involving lots of shimmer. However, I still generally begin applying my makeup with foundation and concealer, before powder, bronzer, blush and highlight; before brows and eyes. So, that all being said, here’s an idea for your Christmas makeup –

For my base, I begin with the Rimmel Insta Flawless (review here), before layering the Bobbi Brown foundation stick in warm beige over the top. For concealer I use a mixture of the Bourjois Radiance Reveal in 01 to brighten under the eyes, and 02 for blemishes; but also the Bobbi Brown eye brightener in 3 Bisque. I then apply a light dusting of the Bobbi Brown nude finish illuminating powder in Bare (review here). FYI all my Bobbi Brown makeup can be seen in my wedding makeup post here.

Then I apply my contour, blush and highlight and for this I use the Rimmel sculpting palette (review here) which I just love!

I then do my brows and for this I use the Hi Impact brow palette which I have used consistently since receiving it in a Look Fantastic beauty box (here), and set in place with the Rimmel ‘Brow this way’ gel. Then for the eyes!

Using the Sleek Goodnight Sweetheart palette (review here), I apply ‘Hold me Tight’ across the whole lid as a base.

I then apply ‘Romance’ into the crease and blend –

For the shimmer which I think is what elevates this look to something ideal for your Christmas party or even Christmas day, I apply ‘Velvet Wrap’ and also ‘Love’ which I try to pack on quite heavily.

I then use ‘Lingerie’ in the inner corners of my eyes, and underneath my brow to lighten, and blend together. I then take some of the Bobbi Brown gel liner along my upper lash line and blend, before using the Stila Huge Extreme lash mascara (review here) to complete the look. Iv you wanted to, you can also add false eyelashes on top.

I have completed the look by applying Nars Palais Royal lip crayon.

I am by no means a makeup professional but I thought it would be fun to show you a look that I love and think will be ideal to replicate for your Christmas makeup… but it is of course totally up to you!

Rimmel London Sculpting Palette Review | Blogmas Day 6

Hey Sweeties,

I’ve got to be honest, I generally don’t buy multi-palettes, particularly from the high street, but following seeing some good reviews of the Rimmel London Sculpting palette, I bought one for myself… quite out of character/purchasing habits but sometimes you do these things! I actually purchased this sculpting palette over the summer and used it throughout, and even now we’re in (let’s be honest) winter, it’s still a favourite.

Rimmel London Sculpting palette

As packaging goes, this is a pretty neat, stylish and compact little product; I love the (rose) gold design to the lid of the casing and that each section of the sculpting palette is at a slant, rather than squared off. Aesthetically, it is very pleasing to the eye! If it’s not obvious from the photos, the sculpting palette contains: a highlight illuminator, a bronzer, and a blush.

In the image above, I’ll admit I’ve firmly pressed my fingers into the sculpting palette to get a good swatch of the highlight, bronzer and blush… but the pigment of each is actually incredible and need very little effort to see. The first time I dabbed my contour brush into the bronzer to sculpt out my cheeks, I drew a big brown line on my face which to be honest shocked me. However, it blends out beautifully so if you’re someone that likes a strong contour, you’ll love this! See below-

Before blending (I have all three products on here)

All three blended.

What I particularly love about this sculpting palette, is how glowy it makes your skin, regardless if it’s summer or winter, day or night; each of the products has the slightest of shimmer that just works with skin beautifully.

Do you have a favourite sculpting palette?

Nude Finish Illuminating Powder in Bare: Bobbi Brown review

Cast your minds back to earlier in the year when I shared with you my Bridal Makeup Tutorial with Bobbi Brown and the products I purchased to use on my wedding day in April.  You’ll remember that I fell in love with the Nude Finish Illuminating Power, but they were sold out at the time, and then so did my budget.

However, when my best friend got married in September, I seized the opportunity to purchase the nude finish illuminating powder to use for our makeup.
