Autumn Haul feat. ASOS, TK MAXX, New Look & Primark

Hey Sweeties,

Never one to be rushed into being excited for a season before it is here, now summer has well and truly past, I now welcome everything the colder months bring (except the darkness, I love long summer days). While my work wardobe needs a bit more of an update to adequately cope with aumtumn/winter, in my weekend wardobe I haven’t needed a lot to refresh it slightly. I doubt I am done buying any more, but for now I love my most recent autumn picks, here they are –

Autumn Haul

ASOS Oversized long woven scarf in pink leopard: I love scarves, I can never have too many although like my attitude to other items in my wardrobe, I try to fill gaps rather than purchase items too similar to something else I already own. If you remember last winter, I rarely left the house without my gorgeous River Island animal print scarf (see it here), however unfortunately, when my beautiful bunny Lola suddenly died back in April, I had to use the scarf to take her home in and understandably, while I have washed it since, it brings unhappy memories for me now. I have never owned a big oversized scarf so when I saw this one on ASOS, I just had to have it!

Boohoo cable rib knit jumper (purchased via ASOS): What’s autumn without a good cream cable knit jumper? I love this one from Boohoo, I like how it is longer at the back and the cable knit pattern is just at the front.

David & Young Bobble Hat (purchased at TK MAXX): I don’t always suit beanie style hats but I really love the style of bobble hats and I couldn’t resist this one.

ASOS Velvet Cat Cross Body Bag: I don’t usually purchase clothing or accessories that I deem to be too distinctive to one particular shop, or too popular because God forbid I have that moment whereby I walk past someone, or rock up to work wearing the same thing as someone else. That being said, when I saw this little velvet cat bag on Zoella’s recent autumn lookbook, I couldn’t resist. It’s just that bit too small to fit my current purse into, but it is otherwise a lovely sized bag and ideal when you’re not needing to carry around a lot.

New Look Animal Print Skirt: I had my eye on this skirt for ages before finally purchasing it when it had 25% off a couple of weeks ago. You guys know how much I love animal print clothing and accessories (here) and this is another fun piece to add to my collection and so easy to wear both casually, and in the work place.

Autumn Haul

D&Y Cape (Purchased at TK MAXX): I love capes and wraps, I think they add a real point of interest to an outfit and I love this one I recently purchased. For me, they are ideal to wear when it’s cold enough to need layers, but you might not need the thickness of a big heavy coat.

Primark Long Sleeved Khaki Green Dress: These types of dresses are becoming such a work staple at the moment as they are so easy to wear paired with tights and either flats or boots. This one from Primark I love, but the fabric is very figure hugging so while it’s very comfortable to wear, I will always wear it with a big scarf or chunky knit cardigan to take the attention away from my front. I am not fat by any means but not everyone likes their womanly curves to be quite on show -you get me?

Autumn Haul

ASOS Totes Furry Rabbit Boot Slippers: I’ve been in need of a new pair of slippers for months and being a rabbit fan, I just love this pair of slipper boots from ASOS. While I argue they look more like lambs than bunnies (although the back of the slipper has little white bunny tail), they are still very cute and VERY comfortable!

Primark Rabbit patterned Pajama bottoms: I love Primark for pajamas, who doesn’t?! I of course had to pick up this pair of bunny patterned ones on a recent visit!

What are you autumn essentials?

The Library of Fragrance – Four Leaf Clover | Review

Hey Sweeties,

So maybe a month or so ago now, I was in my local TK MAXX (as I can often be found on a weekend), and I came across some bottles of various scents from The Library of Fragrance, one of which was four leaf clover. I gave it a quick spritz on myself thinking not too much of it, but as I continued to walk around town, the scent really grew on me. Another week or two later and I came across another bottle (again in TK MAXX) and while I was prepared to buy it, the bottle was £8 and I could see that others -like me- had sprayed it so I declined. However, another couple of weeks later and I by chance saw a boxed bottle of the four leaf clover scent… and reduced in price to £6 so without hesitation, it came home with me.

Fragrance is such a personal thing and what works for one person, won’t necessarily work for someone else so I don’t expect you to love The Library of Fragrance’s four leaf clover scent, but I do urge you to certainly try it should you come across a bottle yourself because it might just surprise you. I am reminded here of Zoe ‘Zoella’ Sugg’s admittance some months back now, saying how one of her favourite Jo Malone candle scents is Tomato Plant for reasons that it was reminiscent of time in her Granddad’s greenhouse when she was younger, and also for its overall freshness. The Library of Fragrance is just the same -the four leaf clover scent transforms me somewhere, but also is just beautifully fresh and so lovely for summer.

While I could never describe specifically what a clover field smells like because I am not even sure myself to be honest, this scent is definitely like standing in a field of clover. Because it’s like nothing else in my collection of fragrances, at the moment when I wear it, it has really livened up my senses and it’s just beautiful.

Have any of you tried this particular scent? What’s the most unusual scent that you love?

New Look, H&M, TK MAXX & Deichmann Fashion Haul

Hey Sweeties,

I admitted in a post last week that I have recently got a bit spendy in both beauty (here) and some new fashion pieces.

There have been a few things on my list of things I felt I needed to add to my wardrobe, but also I am mindful that my holiday with Trek America is very much on the horizon and although it’ll no longer be summertime here, it’ll still be hot over there!

The below haul is a mixture of sale & full price items from the high street.

The fashion Haul

It’s a shame that there’s no such thing as casual Monday as this jumper from New Look would make an appearance in the office weekly!

New Look Playsuit

I love playsuits (despite their impracality sometimes) & this New Look one will be perfect for my holiday & was a total steal at £9!

TK MAXX patterned trousers

…If only I could rock a pair of patterned trousers every day of the week! I got this pair from TK MAXX & I love the fun element these bring to an outfit.

H&M long sleeveless shirt

Teamed up with a pair of skinny trousers, this H&M shirt can be dressed up or down

New Look Kimono

I love the summer trend for kimono’s right now & this one from New Look is beautiful & so easy to wear!

New look flower embossed pumps

I couldn’t resist the flower embossed detail on this pair of New Look trainer/pumps; so pretty!

New look Pink sandals

I snapped up this pair of sandals from New Look; I love the metal detail

Deichmann trainers

I can’t tell you how delighted I am with this pair of trainers from Deichmann -the leopard print detail is perfect for me!

New look Lemon Purse

I have had this fun lemon purse in my sights for months but with a bit of patience, I finally got it at a price I was willing to pay (£6.50)!

The grey t-shirt as seen on the very top photo on the right, is from H&M and is added to my wardrobe on the basis of being such a staple item. Grey is such a wearable colour!

Have you guys grabbed a bargain lately?

Huge Boots and TK MAXX beauty haul!

Following giving up beauty purchases for Lent, it is only natural and expected that a haul was soon to happen… and it’s happened! The majority of the purchases were from Boots, with a couple of items from TK Maxx.

My First New Home Haul

Hey Sweeties,

So as my regular readers will know, in July Ian and I bought and moved into our first house together and although for the most part we kind of already have everything we need, a new home is still a new canvas for ideas and accessories so over the last few months I have been picking up the odd bit here and there so I felt it time to share some of the things I have got so far…

Coffee Table Tray

I’ve seen this idea a lot on Instagram so decided to replicate the look on my coffee table

Ikea Coffee table

Coffee table from Ikea

Cushions

Gotta’ love cushions!

Jars

Because you always need things to put things in…

Bedside Table

By my bedside…

My go-to places for home ware and accessories are: TK Maxx, Homebase, Dunelm, Ikea, Wilkinsons, second-hand furniture shops and charity shops -if you’re prepared to wait and hunt around there are some real bargains and interesting things to be found! As mentioned above, I also constantly browse through Instagram for ideas and inspiration and there are some great magazines out there as well, my current favourite is called Style at Home!

Of course we have bought other more grown up things like an incinerator to burn all our confidential waste and excess rubbish, garden tools, the odd bit of furniture and things like that but to be honest, I can’t see that being of much interest to you guys so I’ll just stick with home haulin’ accessories and (when appropriate) maybe some design and room layout ideas. Part Two/three/four etc. will go up on here over time as a house is never, fully filled and complete.

Any of you guys into gardening? no? …. well, just saying that come spring I might get quite excited when my new garden starts sprouting daffodils! Be warned!

Until next time x
