Characteristics of a Leo woman: I have always been a very proud Leo and I used to love reading my horoscope. Of course I took it with a pinch of salt so to speak, but I loved it when elements of that month’s horoscope reined true.
I thought it would be a good idea to look at some of the characteristics of a Leo to see how I measure up. Here goes –
Characteristics of a Leo
Leo Strengths: Confident; ambitious; generous; loyal; encouraging.
Weaknesses: Pretentious; domineering; melodramatic; stubborn; vain.
“Leo is very independent but they need something to control and someone to admire them and appreciate them. They are fully capable of being greatly successful on their own but they are much happier if they have an audience and a following of people who look up to them. They would prefer not be alone.”
This statement sounds quite bad but for me there’s a lot of truth in it. Unfortunately, I am alone quite a lot outside of work owing to my husband’s shift patterns, and my best pals and family live away from me which isn’t ideal.
This means that I have learnt to be on my own and enjoy my own company, which I think is something everybody should learn to do. I would recommend reading my post on how to be your own best friend.
“Leo has an amazing ability to bounce back from any feelings of despair or unfortunate events. They do not like to be unhappy, it hurts their pride so they will take matters into their own hands and make things right again.”
This is very true. When I am gripped with spells of loneliness, and particularly when I suffered with depression in my late teens and mid-twenties, I can always look forward.
I can recognise that this feeling isn’t forever, and that optimism goes a long way. We have the power to change our lives so if something isn’t working, try something else.
This does mean though that I am quite impatient with people who can’t see that the glass is half full, not empty, and aren’t proactive in trying to change their personal circumstances (within reason).
“Leos could come into conflict with other powerhouse type of people who will not take orders and not give an inch, Leos will not budge their opinion, they will understand and accept opinions of others but they do not take well to people to try to impose their beliefs on them.”
I haven’t got a problem with people having opinions and if those opinions are different to mine, but I struggle when those opinions have been formed without taking into account both sides of an argument or an issue. 2016 has seen some quite vile opinion sharing and bullying as a result on social media –the EU Referendum and the US Presidential Election to name just two.
People not only judging others for having a different view, but actually branding them certain things because of those views is totally and completely unacceptable. Both my Facebook and Twitter feeds saw me mute, unfriend and unfollow many who showed their true colours.
“Leos are extremely sensitive but they hide that very well. Leos love praise and flattery, their egos demand respect and adoration.
Leo is all about pride. This can cause them to be self-centered but the warmth of the Leo heart keeps it under control.
If Leo’s audience (otherwise known as their friends) do not provide the needed appreciation, Leo is too proud to ask for it and they will suffer a hurt ego, but no one will ever know and they will suffer in silence. The secret of the Leo is that they need to be needed.”
Again true. Underneath I am extremely sensitive and the smallest of comments can have an effect on me if I think –as it says above- my pride is hurt. Loyalty is a huge deal for me and I will give you 110% of my time without question but if I don’t feel I get the same back, then I’ll struggle to stay loyal.
I absolutely have to feel needed, friendship aside, if I’ve joined a club or something and I don’t feel that my presence is acknowledged then my commitment waivers. Social Anxiety plays a huge part in this as if I don’t feel comfortable somewhere, particularly with new people then it’s just a disaster waiting to happen.
“Leo are full of energy that acts like a magnet for other people.”
If I am comfortable in my surroundings and the people I am with, I feel confident which reflects in my energy.
“Leos are very generous, kind and openhearted people. If a Leo is crossed, they will strike back with force but they are not one to hold a grudge, they easily forgive, forget and move on.”
Absolutely, I love to give and be generous with my time and money, but equally if you piss me off you will get it back. I’m not a verbal person, but I can write a stabbing email so just beware, ha! And be assured I can hold a grudge – that thing you did to me five years ago? Yup, I still remember it!

I am so enlightened. As a leo woman there are characteristics that I would rather not have but alas it is what it is. I do like to be needed and I am vicious when I am crossed but on every other day I am generous and giving.
