My Pandora Rose Charm Bracelet

Hey Sweeties,

It’s ironic that Pandora’s slogan in their advertising, says “for the unique woman” as I think a majority of the women I either come into contact with or pass by in the street etc. are wearing Pandora jewellery, particularly the charm bracelets. As a rule, I generally avoid anything or anywhere that I consider to be too popular, I prefer to seek out more unique finds in my clothing and accessories. That being said, if I do shop on the High Street, I’ll likely pick out items that aren’t distinctive to that one shop and definitely nothing that has been seen on a celebrity. But when it comes to accessory shopping, I might make the occasional exception and in this instance, I have of course succumbed to the Pandora Rose charm bracelet which I was bought for my birthday last year.

However, while the bracelet itself isn’t unique, a woman’s choice in the charms she later purchases or is gifted, is individual to her and her alone. For me, I like where possible for my charms to symbolise something special whether that be a character trait, an occasion or a memory. With this in mind, I so far have three charms –the Shimmering Heart; Our Special Day; and my most recent, the Remarkable Rabbit.

The heart I was bought for Christmas as until that point, my bracelet was charmless and I really liked this one and I thought it would be appropriate to be from Ian (my Husband). It’s from the same Pandora Rose theme so in the beautiful gold colour, and I like the diamond spots.

As you all know, I got married at the beginning of April and I wanted a charm to mark the occasion and I loved this one the most out of the selection available. Again in a heart shape, I love how on one side you have the groom represented with a black tux, and on the other the bride in white with a sweetheart neckline. I also really like how the edge of the charm is punctured with lots of little hearts; this charm I really feel has that added attention to detail.

Finally, or rather, most recently, I bought myself this rabbit charm for two reasons -1. Because bunnies are my favourite animal (with horses a very close second), and 2. Because recently I lost my beautiful Lola and I just wanted something to remember her by. Also, whenever you feel a bit sad (or lonely), or you’ve done something brilliant and feel you deserve a reward, it’s common knowledge that you’ll take yourself shopping (albeit online) and make a purchase. For me, while buying this charm doesn’t bring her back, it makes me feel slightly better about her loss as I have something physical to remind me of her, it’s just getting something positive out of a wholly negative situation. Did that make sense?

Before getting my Pandora Rose bracelet, I had a charm bracelet from Swarovski which I was bought for my 21st birthday. I have a really good selection of charms for it but despite what they tell you, so many of the little crystals fall out of the charms which I found so disappointing. I rarely wear it now because I worry with every bang I’ll lose more crystals; I have of course reduced the amount of charms on there but that seems to go against why I have a charm bracelet in the first place. I took a few of the charms back to get replaced, but after a while I just gave up. I was also bought a beautiful ring from my Mum for Graduation and again, I think it’s lost a crystal or two and I’m weary of wearing it. As a result, I now simply do not shop at Swarovski.

What charm bracelets do you have? What are your favourite charms?

Summer Vibes | Relaxed Weekend Outfit with Floral Printed Trousers

Hey Sweeties,

So asides from desperately wanting (and needing) a proper holiday -which FYI I have to wait until next year for- I also really really want to go to a festival this year; not necessarily for the whole three days or whatever, but a day outside (in the sun), with some cider, a floral crown and some good music -yes!

Unfortunately, I haven’t got any festivals planned this summer either owing mostly to already being booked up on those weekends… wow, what a positive post this is so far, ha!

Anyway.

Printed Trousers

One of the things I love about summer is the change in my wardrobe; while I still need to keep a good reasonably thick hoody to hand, for the most part outfits become simpler, lighter and colour finally makes an appearance. While I love being able to layer during the colder months, pieces now need to be able to work on their own with only some light accessories. For me, I adore pairing together a statement, patterned piece, with block colour and for at least the last two summers, I have been obsessed with printed trousers.

Ironically, within an hour of shooting this outfit, the heavens opened!

Watch: DKNY

Bracelet: Pandora

Necklace: Brand unknown (bought at the Ideal Home Show a couple of years ago)

As a woman nearing (frighteningly) to her thirties, there comes a time when you have to accept that short shorts are no longer suitable summer/festival attire. And to be totally honest with you, thank goodness! For me, summer style is all about maxi dresses & skirts, kimonos and the like, I really think flowing fabrics provide the opportunity to cover up but still retain that summer vibe in a mature way. The above outfit is a classic example of how I like to dress on the weekend during the summer months… or any time the sun is out and hot because let’s be honest, that has happened in October before and last autumn overall was still quite balmy leading up to Christmas!… but you know what I mean.

What are your summer staples?

GlassesShop Review | Online Retailer for Cheap Quality Glasses

Hey Sweeties,

Do you like my new glasses*? These particular glasses frames are the Salisbury Oval (Tortoise) from the GlassesShop.com and I just love them!

GlassesShop

GlassesShop

GlassesShop

GlassesShop is an American owned and operated online retailer of cheap glasses, delivering high quality eyeglasses at low, affordable prices to customers around the world.

While I admit that I don’t currently need glasses (although a visit to the opticians is definitely long overdue!), I have worn glasses briefly in the past and I can totally relate to how important it is to finding a decent pair of frames that both look good, and are of decent enough quality to cope with daily life. Nowadays, and certainly at my age, style is everything and plays a very important role in how I am perceived by others, as well as how I perceive myself. While I want to look professional, as you guys know from some of my previous workwear style posts (like this one here), I also like to inject a bit of fun and edge into my look as well. This is why I chose this pair of tortoiseshell patterned eyeglasses because while the tortoiseshell is quite subtle, it still elevates them above a pair of standard black frames.

The frame shape is modern and flattering (although maybe a touch too large for my face), comfortable to wear and I really like the overall quality; I would be confident that these could cope with being taken on and off throughout the day, chewed (because we all do it whether it be pens, earphone wires, or the temples of spectacles), and the style not go out of fashion. Overall, a big thumbs up from me!

What do you guys think? If you would like to treat yourselves to a pair of new eyeglasses or prescription sunglasses, you can get 50% off with this code: GSHOT50 (sale frames not included), and I would definitely recommend you check out the site.

Outfit | Spring Retro

Hey Sweeties,

While I have to first of all admit that I have broken my clothing ban that has been in place since January (following the sales), in equal measure I have bought with purpose. I think I mentioned previously that while it seems to be all the range to have a capsule wardrobe, I actually still enjoy a fairly disposable attitude to some of the areas of my wardrobe. However, since my ban, I have gotten totally bored of the high street and even when I have allowed myself to go shopping, nothing has taken my fancy. I have also now found that while I still don’t really like the idea of a capsule wardrobe, I do find myself shopping to fill specific gaps rather purchase another i.e. top aimlessly. With that in mind as well as my recent nuptials, I needed a couple of new outfits and this has been my favourite so far (excuse the posing), Spring Retro:

Outfit Spring Retro

Jacket: AX Paris at ASOS | Top: New Look | Leggings: ASOS | Trainers: Deichmann | Sunglasses: Warehouse (old)

Bomber jackets are EVERYWHERE right now and I love them, but that being said, one needs to be careful as while they appeal to me (a 28 year old married woman!), they also appeal to thirteen-year-olds and on no fewer than three occasions, have I seen a teenager walk past me in a jacket I was eyeing up only minutes before. I picked this particular jacket up on the ASOS website and I totally love it; it’ll be ideal to wear throughout the spring and summer months, especially as I tend to keep to block colours so this will be a great pop of pattern.

The top has also been an instant hit and can be both dressed up to be worn formally, as well as dressed down; I love that it ties at the back, cinching in my waist (which I stupidly failed to capture -apologies).

The look overall can be enhanced further by wearing a pair of ankle boots, heels or even sandals, as well as a chunkier, more statement necklace.

My Winter Style and the staple pieces I wear throughout the season

Even though we are technically now entering spring, at the moment it’s still certainly cold enough to keep us from reorganising our wardrobes any time soon. With this in mind, I thought I would talk you through my winter style that I have rocked pretty consistently, throughout the season so far.

One of my favourite things to do at the weekend, is layer up and take a walk across to Windsor for a coffee and a mooch, before heading back home again. Call it boring, but so often it’s the simple things in life that provide the most fulfillment.

I love this bag, it was a recent find at Topshop for the total bargain price of £8!

Winter style: Black coat

My Episode coat has been my winter staple and I purchased it at the beginning of the season last year as a bit of an investment piece; I have no doubt it’ll see me through many winters to come.

It has a fairly masculine appearance as it’s quite broad in the shoulders and has wide lapels, it also has just one buckle to secure it together but to be honest it really suits being left open. You really can’t go wrong with a formal black coat.

Layering

During colder months layers are absolutely the way forward and for me, are one of the best things about this time of year. The burgundy wool cardigan and cotton t-shirt are both from PacSun which I visited in LA back in October with Trek America.

The t-shirt is from the new Kendal & Kylie (Jenner) range and although you can’t see it here, the side panels are cut out so it falls really nicely over other clothing, but more so over your hips which I think is really flattering. PacSun is one of my favourite American stores, I would definitely recommend you try and locate one if you’re ever on that side of the Atlantic in the future.

My Winter Style

Despite my vast collection of scarves, this one from River Island has barely left my neck all winter; it goes with everything and I love how an animal print can add interest to an otherwise plain or simple outfit.

All that’s left is a deep berry lip and you’re all set to go -the one pictured is MAC’s Smoked Purple and has quickly become my favourite.

What staples have been your winter style?

Until next time x
