Easy autumn makeup tutorial: Dark Smokey-Eye Makeup

I love autumn; I love the layering of textures and colour. With that in mind, I thought today I would share an easy autumn makeup look.

Skin preparation

Prepare your face for makeup application as normal, here I have applied my Elizabeth Arden serum, Nivea moisturiser, and Rimmel Lasting Perfection Primer.

Step two: Base

Apply foundation. It’s the weekend (despite my jumper saying otherwise) so I don’t need heavy coverage so I’m using Too Faced’s Foundation Powder.

Step 3: Eyes

Since purchasing the Rimmel Scandal Eyes crayons, I have loved creating looks with them and for this autumn makeup I am using Bad Girl Bronze which I am applying to the centre of the eyelid and blending out.

From the Urban Decay original Naked palette, take ‘Dark Horse’ and apply into the crease of the eyelid, as much or as little as you like. Then blend as before.

I also like to apply a little bit of Dark Horse underneath my lower lash line. Then take ‘Half Baked’ and pack onto the center of the eyelid.

You could now curl your lashes if you want to before applying mascara; I am currently using Maybelline’s Lash Sensational.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher | Review

A while back now, I said to myself, that if I succeeded in getting a new job I could treat myself to a high-end beauty product or two. For ages I assumed this special purchase would be Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess powder bronzer but when it came to it, I wanted something that would really add to my collection and at the time, I wasn’t sure another bronzer was the right decision.

Also, since making this pact to myself back at the beginning of the year, my situation changed, I did land myself a new job (back in May) but I have also just got engaged (as you know) and on our way back home through London, we diverted into Selfridges so I could make a quick visit to the Charlotte Tilbury stand because if now wasn’t the time to treat myself, when would be?!

Folllowing my series of posts showing you aspects of my makeup collection, blushers were identified as being a real sweet spot for me and a total weakness, with lipstick being a very close second (so Charlotte Tilbury’s Glastonberry is very much next in line!). With this in mind, I made the decision that now made sense to purchase one of Charlotte’s most loved products, her Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop blusher which I got in ‘Ectasy’, and I am so pleased with it!

Beyond how beautiful it is to apply, arguably its most attractive feature is of course the packaging; the blusher comes in the most gorgeous smooth round compact. Inside, the product is encased within a silver ring and the inside of the lid has a big, round mirror. There is literally nothing you can fault with it.

Although I have technically bought high-end before (remember Bobbi Brown’s French Pink Set?), this is my first, full-price planned purchase. So while I will one day (soon maybe) purchase Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, I am still perfectly satisfied with what is offered on the high street, but as you’ll agree, from time to time, it’s nice to treat yourself to something that bit more special.

My Makeup Collection: Lips

Hey Sweeties,

It’s time to show you all another area of my makeup collection, having already shown you my; foundations, blushers & eyes bringing us now onto, lips. Here goes…

lips Makeup collection

The collection! Note: the glosses in the top left compartment aren’t usually kept there, I’m not that messy 😉

I touched upon my makeup storage a while back now (here) so it’s probably time I did an update post soon, but for the purposes of this post, my collection of lip products are for the most part stored on top of my dressing table in organisers from TK MAXX and Muji.

All the glosses seen in the left on the top organiser are normally kept within my dressing table as I find I hardly use these ones, but they’re still useful to keep on hand for when I do. Essentially my core collection consists of lip liners, lipsticks and a couple of glosses as I will talk you through below.  View Full Post

My Makeup Collection: Eyes

Hey Sweeties,

Continuing with my posts taking you through my makeup collection having already shown you my foundations (here) & blushers (here), today I thought I would take you through eyes, specifically palettes, individual pans and crayons.

Ofra in shade, Bliss: The problem with eye palettes and individual pans is that unless the brand, colour etc. is really good, the pans can get lost in the drawer and that is kind of what has happened here with Ofra. I got this sometime early last year I think in a Love me Beauty Box (here), and although I liked it at the time, it eventually got forgotten about until I dug everything out to photograph for this post. However, while I am loving bronze and gold tones, I should try and re-incorporate this pan back into the mix.  View Full Post

My Makeup Collection: Foundations

Hey Sweeties,

So today I thought I would launch a new series of posts whereby I take the opportunity to show you my makeup collection in a bit more detail. Of course my collection is almost constantly being added to on a monthly basis but anything new will feature in haul posts and reviewed separately afterwards later. But for the most part, I can quite easily take you through some of my collection starting with: Foundations.
