nspa Skin Glow Mud Mask Review | August Blogs

Hey Sweeties,

Some months ago now I posted about going to the Nirvana Spa in Wokingham with my Mum (here), and while I was there we picked up some skin care products from the nspa product range. The product I picked up for me was the skin glow mud mask; ‘a deep cleansing mask with clay and charcoal to draw out impurities.

For someone that actually really enjoys face masks, it’s amazing how little I do them which is something I have got to change. For ages I have gone between using masks from Montagne Jeunesse and Lush, but this mud mask from nspa is fantastic and I think it was no more than around £8 which is a total bargain!

When I wear a face mask, I like to really feel that it’s doing something and this nspa mud mask does just that. I don’t yet quite understand how charcoal plays such a part in the formulation, but the mask is easy to apply, sets quickly, and washes off cleanly. Fortunately, I don’t then suffer a huge break out following use but my skin does feel amazing afterwards and I know if I increased use to weekly or even fortnightly, I would see incredible, consistent results.

Personally, I really dislike products that come in sachets as it just gets annoying trying to release all of the product, and often it’s more than you need. I love the little tub this mud mask comes in as it allows for really easy distribution and I can just take what I need, and although it’s a thick mask, it’s not messy.

On the same visit I purchased this mud mask, we also purchased a night cream and I think a moisturiser from the nspa range that my mum and mother-in-law received and from all accounts, thoroughly enjoy using. Recently I noticed some of the nspa range in my local Asda store so if you see any of the products near you, I would thoroughly recommend them as asides from being incredibly affordable, they are of excellent quality too.

What kind of face masks do you guys like to use?

Pinita Colada Shower Gel & Body Scrub from The Body Shop

Hey Sweeties,

Oh my goodness guys, I hate jumping on bandwagons and following the crowd, but you need to believe the hype about The Body Shop’s Pinita Colada range; it’s B-E-A-utiful!

As you guys know, I am a big, big fan of The Body Shop and I am currently still absolutely loving the Polynesian Island Tiaré range (shower gel, body butter and eau de toilette). I am also still using the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet as my daily moisturiser.

Honestly, if I could only forever more shop at one place for all my beauty and skincare, The Body Shop would probably be it. Anyway, I am digressing slightly.

In the event that you haven’t already sauntered into your local store to peruse the range for yourself (what are you waiting for?), I can tell you that within the collection you have; a shower gel, body sorbet, body scrub, and a body butter.

Because I have to listen to myself and only buy the things I will actually use and not just get carried away with the excitement of the moment (so easily done), I just purchased the shower gel and body scrub.

Polynesian Island Tiare Range from The Body Shop || Review

I have another exciting new range from The Body Shop to bring to your attention today: Polynesian Island Tiaré*.

As you guys well know by now, I am a big fan of The Body Shop and most recently I have been loving their Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet and the Drops of Light range, both of which I have incorporated into my everyday morning routine.

Polynesian Island Tiare The Body Shop

Polynesian Island Tiaré range from The Body Shop

What is Tiaré?

Firstly, a note on the title, ‘Polynesian’ which is an adjective of Polynesia, a sub-region of Oceania, a collection of a thousand islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean. Tiaré is the name of a flower found on the island of Tahiti and is celebrated as the flower of affection.

During special ceremonies and holidays, the Tiaré flower is worn by both men and women, as well as given to guests in Tahiti as a sign of welcome.

As a scent

As a scent, tiaré is quite hard to describe so I asked Google what it thought and a description came up with, ‘heady and hypnotic’ as well as a dominant floral ingredient that awakens and excite the senses.’ And I completely agree.

While it is a sweet floral scent, it’s quite a deep level of sweetness so it’s not like your traditional floral fragrance that’s light and airy. This is definitely exotic and if you’ve holidayed where the tiaré flower can be found, this will be your ultimate vacation scent to take you back to that place.

The Products

If you like your deep heady floral scents you are going to love this range and all three of the products I have been given to try -the shower gel, body cream and eau de toilette- do not disappoint and for me are instant hits.

Of the three, the most subtle is the shower gel as while it is still deliciously fragrant, it’s not as dominating as the Body Cream which is thick, rich and creamy. As a combination, these two work really well together if you wanted your skin to have a pleasant exotic floral aroma about it that will take you through most of the day.

The Eau de Toilette on its own is also beautiful and as mentioned above, it will be a gorgeous summer fragrance for many, so definitely one to check out if you’re on the hunt for something new this year.

Summary

It’s got to be said (if it wasn’t already bleedin’ obvious) that I am completely in love with this range and I’ll be using the products across the summer months without fail.

Will you guys be checking out this Polynesian Island Tiaré range when it hits stores soon?

The Body Shop Drops of Light Range – Pure Clarifying Foam Wash and the Pure Translucency Essence Lotion || Review

Hey Sweeties,

As you guys know (or definitely should do by now), I love The Body Shop, particularly for skincare –their camomile cleansing butter is hands down my favourite cleanser, and their Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet has quickly become a morning staple of mine.

Most recently I have been given the opportunity to try out and review The Body Shop’s new Drops of Light range, specifically the Pure Translucency Essence Lotion* and the Pure Clarifying Foam Wash*. While I haven’t been given a ton of information about this new range, what I can gather is that this Drops of Light range has been inspired by Korean whitening products, designed to lighten and leave skin looking translucent.

They will be available in stores and online nationwide in April.

The Body Shop Drops of Light

Pure clarifying foam wash

This product is beautifully creamy, very easy to use (just a pea sized amount massaged into wet skin, and washed off with cold water), and leaves skin feeling clean and fresh; it’s perfect to use as a morning cleanser to wake up your skin and prepare it for makeup.

The closest product I have tried in the past that I can compare it to, is the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser which I also thoroughly enjoyed using.

Pure Translucency Essence Lotion

A gel to water formula, you simply apply a few drops to a cotton pad and apply to your face, much in the same way as you would use a toner. That being said, unlike some toner-like products which can sometimes cause a slight stinging sensation upon application, this pure translucency lotion is in fact incredibly gentle on the skin.

However, while I don’t dispute that it’s nice to use, I’m not really 100% behind it yet as a product. It works great in combination with the foam wash, but I would struggle to find its purpose on its own as I’m not totally convinced it really adds anything to my skincare routine.

The Body Shop Drops of Light

Summary

With my wedding fast approaching (only a little more than a month away now folks), I am now incredibly conscious of what products I am using, and trying where possible, to prepare my skin as best I can so that I look positively radiant on the Big day.

While my wedding makeup is important, I don’t want more products than necessary to be used in order to cover bad skin or any last minute breakouts (which to be fair, with stress levels at breaking point, this can only be anticipated).

But you know what I mean, I want a natural glow that is only enhanced lightly by a good foundation and other makeup, so the timing of this new Drops of Light range from The Body Shop couldn’t be better.

If you’re prone to bad skin, when you find a product that noticeably improves your complexion you not only shout about it, but you stick with it too. I generally have normal skin with the occasional oily patch and in the mornings I do sometimes have a bit of redness which I try to improve before applying makeup.

But on the whole, my skin is okay. My point here is that unless you have a noticeable problem area you want to improve, it can sometimes be hard to tell if a product has had a really positive effect on you.

Since using these two Drops of Light products, I do genuinely feel my skin looks brighter and feels fresher in the mornings following my routine cleanse so for now, I am definitely sticking with them.

What do you guys think? Does the Drops of Light range sound like something you’d be interested in trying for yourself?

Lady shaving – Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor Review

You know that saying after finally purchasing/trying/doing something after months, maybe even years of not doing it – “why haven’t I purchased/tried/done this sooner?” those were exactly my thoughts after trying the Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor* for the first time!

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor

Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor

Ever since I started shaving in my early teens, I have always routinely bought a packet of supermarket  disposable razors and never thought of doing otherwise… until now.

While I have never doubted the quality of a good razor, both in its design and performance, I have just never taken the opportunity to properly invest in one which on reflection is really quite mad.

When you use one of the cheap disposable razors, upon first use you can almost guarantee it’ll cut you and will continue nipping your skin until you’ve used it a couple of times and the blades aren’t as sharp. By this point however you should have disposed of it and started on a new one anyway.

When I first used my new Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor, not only did it not pull at my skin, it glided from my ankle to my thigh with little effort and gave quite frankly the cleanest shave I have ever experienced.

The head of the razor contains 5 ‘curve sensing blades and has a unique moisturising serum that activates and dispenses upon contact with water,’ which means it naturally follows the shape of your body, leaving your skin hydrated.

I am seriously impressed with the Wilkinson Sword Hydro Silk Razor and I really can’t believe how long it has taken me to get on board with the benefits of investing and using a quality razor.

If you have yet to take the plunge yourself, honestly do, it’ll be one of the best things you do for yourself and will make an arduous task more pleasurable.
