Winter wedding: six ideas I would incorporate into my big day that you could too

Today I wanted to show you some ideas I would incorporate into my big day if I was having a winter wedding.

Winter Wedding Ideas

Winter wedding ideas:

Bridesmaid dresses

I not only love the dusky grey colour in the example I have selected, but I also love the idea of mixing faux fur shrugs, snoods, jackets and boleros with the softer textures of the bridesmaid dresses. I had a faux fur bridal bomber jacket made for my wedding.

Candles

It doesn’t have to be winter to be able to involve candles in your wedding, but if you were having a winter wedding how could you not? They create atmosphere, warmth, light, and an air of romanticism.

Favours: personalised baubles

I love these, what a great idea! Your guests leave with a lovely souvenir from your special day and every year they can remember it when they get the Christmas decorations out.

Fairy lights

Arguably safer than candles, particularly if you have lots of children at your wedding, but fairy lights are another easy way of creating a lovely warm atmosphere within your venue. You can hang them on walls, wrap them across surfaces and even put them in mason jars to use as center pieces. Fairy lights are an incredibly versatile decoration.

Fun Lighting

Some venues lend themselves so well to this kind of lighting, places such as barns with lovely high ceilings and big wooden beams that you could wrap festoon lights on/around etc.

If it is cold and nippy outside (not to mention dark super early), you want to create a warm intimate space inside that your guests want to be in and enjoying.

Flowers

Depending on your theme colours, flowers are a great way to bring in some more textures and can even be a way to incorporate some bolder tones. I would do a mixture of the two examples in the collage -my bridesmaids would have softer tones while I would be bolder as I would need something stronger against my white/ivory dress.

I’ve learnt that if you have the vision, there are an abundance of people, suppliers and venue options that can help bring your ideas to life. While putting on any event comes at a cost, regardless of budget, if you are prepared to hunt around you can totally find some great deals and bargains.

For the creatives out there, so much can be made by hand if you can put in the time before hand and recruit help from your bridesmaids, friends and family -that’s certainly what I’m planning on doing!

What are your winter wedding ideas?

Until next time x
