Charcoal sheet mask -Procoal Marine Moisture Mask | First Impressions Review

I haven’t tried many sheet masks, preferring a mud/clay formula if I am honest. So I was intrigued and excited to give this new charcoal sheet mask a go from Procoal.

Who Are Procoal?

Procoal launched in 2016, developing and releasing their own products. Their new hydrating charcoal sheet mask (the Marine Moisture Sheet Mask) launched in December 2018.

Procoal is a cruelty-free brand and it is an important part of their ethos. The vast majority of their product range is based on “a combination of naturally-derived ingredients, various essential oils and a small palette of synthetics which have a long history of safe use”.

Hydrating charcoal sheet mask: first impressions

One clear advantage for sheet masks is that they are less messy than a mud mask. The Procoal marine moisture sheet mask is serum rich so as you extract it from its packet, unfold and apply it to your face, the effect is instantly cooling.

The ideal circumstance would be to apply the charcoal sheet mask and lie down for the recommended 15-20 minutes so the mask doesn’t slip down your face, but even sat on the sofa with my head back, the mask stayed on well.

I would certainly have struggled however to have worn this mask while trying to multi task with a household chore or something similar. This isn’t a criticism but this kind of mask demands you take it easy and enjoy the experience of using it.

Hydration is its central key features, I really did feel my face soak up the serum and I liked that the mask didn’t dry out at all while it was applied.

The second thing I really liked, and this can probably apply to sheet masks more broadly, I liked that I didn’t have to extensively rinse my face to remove the product.

Once the charcoal sheet mask is removed, you just massage the excess serum into your face and you’re done!

The marine moisture sheet mask did exactly what it said it would and my expectations weren’t any higher than that. My one slight issue is the smell, while not unpleasant, it kind of stuck with me for a while; maybe it’s just my hyper sensitive nose?

Overall and certainly as a first impression, I really liked the experience of using this charcoal sheet mask. It was easy to apply, did what it said it would, and afterwards my face felt plump and hydrated which I loved.

I normally have combination skin; sometimes a bit oily with dry patches, and this sheet mask is suitable for all skin types so I was fine using it and it hasn’t caused a break out. I think if you have really dry skin you’ll absolutely love this.

Until next time x

Definitely do, I will certainly be keeping an eye on the brand going forward as I am a big advocate for cruelty free skincare 🙂
