I have never hated cleaning, it’s just only until earlier this year I was very basic at it. But there is nothing quite like nesting in preparation for a baby to make you want your house practically sterile. So, I had heard about this Mrs Hinch lady for a while and I finally gave in to her content and my house and cleaning methods (and purchases) haven’t been quite the same since.
Mrs Hinch has not only taught me how to clean better, but she -and the wider community of Hinchers at large- have taught me how to do things that enable better maintenance of my home, jobs that I would otherwise leave until they presented as a problem, such as blocked plugholes, and who knew how to properly clean a washing machine!? Not me.
You might role your eyes but I did the exact same thing when it came to learning about beauty and skincare. I used to apply makeup and take it off with a wet wipe (I can hear Caroline Hirons shriek)! But then I discovered the likes of Zoella on YouTube and I learned about makeup on a deeper level, improving my skills in application and the products I used, and the importance of establishing a proper morning and evening skincare routine.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with holding your hands up and admitting that an influencer has had a deep impression on you and you’ve joined the crowd. At the end of the day, whatever that community is about, cleaning, beauty, skincare… it’s harmless. Because of Mrs Hinch, the cleaning brands have seen a huge surge in sales, and our homes are smelling sweetly of Zoflora *insert your fave scent here* (but do now probably contain far too many bottled chemicals admittedly).
