Watford florist Jean Page Floral Boutique have kindly sent me a beautiful bouquet of Valentine’s flowers* for me to review.

Valentine’s day is fast approaching and now more than ever, we need to be thankful for the people in our lives and celebrate love. I know it’s not for everyone, but even a small gesture of some Valentine’s flowers can be enough to let those important to you, know that you care.

Sweetie Love

Hello Sweeties,
It’s that highly commercialised, PDA sickening day of the year but you know what? I Love it! There is a change in the atmosphere, there is a slight undertone to the day which even the cynics can’t help but be stirred by and for loved up bunnies like me it’s electrifying! (*cue Grease mega mix in my head). While the country around us suffers the wrath of Mother Nature’s cruel hand, any excuse to feel warm and cuddly is welcome, right?

Ian for the last two years has done himself proud, always I am presented with a card or something as soon as I wake up before I can even remember my own name let alone what day it is! Our first Valentine’s day we were apart, I was a mere two months from finishing Uni and moving my life from Bath/Bristol to Hampshire and in with Ian. I was given a card the weekend prior to open on Valentine’s but in the morning when I woke up an email awaited me from him forwarding a booking confirmation for tickets to see ‘Phantom of the Opera’ at Bristol Hippodrome that coming May (the week after I was due to hand in my last assignment!). Last year, our second Valentine’s, I woke up to be given a card with a note saying to meet Ian after work at 5:30pm for my surprise! So all day I patiently anticipated what it could possibly be but sure enough, at 5:30 Ian rocked up outside work and we drove for a little under an hour to High Wycombe where I was surprised with an evening at the theatre to see ‘Birdsong‘. Amazing!

I do hear what the cynics say and I appreciate that when you’re single, even if you’re happy being so, having love shoved in your face isn’t much fun, we’ve all been there so I understand. I also hear what those in a committed long term relationship say about Valentine’s day – if you love each other you don’t make a special effort to say “I love you” on just one day of the year because there is a national day dedicated to it, you tell each other every single day without fail. But what’s a bunch of flowers and a card on Valentine’s Day? It doesn’t need to be an enormous expense; it’s a token of appreciation. If there is a day dedicated to celebrating being in love… why aren’t you taking part if you can?

However, for all us ladies out there whether single or coupled up, just remember one thing…. we’re fabulous!
