Today I thought I would share with you a review of The Hairy Bikers’ One Pot Wonders cookbook. Since purchasing the cookbook I have absolutely loved it.
“Over 100 delicious new favourites, from terrific traybakes to roasting tin treats”
The Hairy Bikers’ One Pot Wonders Cookbook
I have been a big fan of The Hairy Bikers and have watched their TV programs for years but haven’t until now purchased one of their books. I was in my local supermarket browsing the book aisle and a quick flick through The Hairy Biker’s One Pot Wonders cookbook and I was sold.
As a vegetarian (the only one in my family), I look for recipes that I can easily take out or add meat into so the meal is suitable for the three of us, and anyone else joining us for dinner. The recipes included in The Hairy Bikers’ One Pot Wonders cookbook are super simple and meet that initial brief, using ingredients commonly found in the stock cupboard, or easily purchased in the shops.
Best home cook
My interest in learning and trying new recipes has spiked since the beginning of this year and I do think this has something to do with my son’s baby-led weaning journey. I want him to reflect on his childhood in years to come and have good memories about the meals I cooked.
My mum is a great home cook and my dad has always enjoyed cooking, but family meals for most of my own childhood was from my mum. I was encouraged to cook as soon as I was able and willing to learn, and I will do the same with Austin.
Cooking is an important life skill and sets you up for life, encouraging good eating habits and lifestyle. I think home cooking is something at risk of being lost in future generations because of the rise of takeaway culture and a faster pace of life, so I’m keen to ensure this doesn’t happen in my home.
One Pot Wonders: An essential cookbook for your home
The Hairy Bikers’ One Pot Wonders cookbook has become a real staple in my home, and without a doubt my most used in my small collection so far. I even have my eye on The Hairy Bikers’ Mediterranean Adventure cookbook as my next purchase.
My next challenge is to master meal planning a week in advance, I keep saying it’s something I need to do and yet it’s not quite materialised into reality. My intention is to select at least two-three recipes (from all my collection of cookbooks, food magazines and file of recipes) to create from scratch each week alongside simple freezer meals.
What are you favourite one pot wonders? Can you recommend any other cookbooks for family recipes?
Until next time x
