DIY Cookie Mix Jar – The ideal Christmas gift for family & friends

A DIY cookie mix jar is a perfect present for friends and family, particularly those with young children. You have to purchase the ingredients but this can be done cheaply, and the jar can become something useful afterwards. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a budget or willing to splash the cash, sometimes it’s just nicer to be a little bit more creative with gifts, particularly at Christmas.

I always look forward to this time of year because I always ensure I allocate several days of annual leave to properly unwind, tuck into delicious food, watch Christmas films, and chill with family.

BUT, Christmas gift buying does become a bit of a headache I will admit and while some people are really easy to buy for, others not so much and I really hate buying for the sake of buying. I want to give something thoughtful but not clog up someones house with another trinket that in all honesty, they don’t really need or want.

I spent a short while Googling DIY cookie mix jar recipes and I eventually settled on this one, I just switched up the M&Ms for chocolate chips (and helpfully converted the American measurements into British units).

Top Tip: I rolled up a piece of A4 paper to create a funnel to add and layer up the ingredients.

3. Carefully add the chocolate chips so that they don’t sink into the flour.

4. Next add the light brown sugar, then the granulated sugar and you’re done!

The only teeny tiny drawback to giving a DIY cookie mix jar as a gift, is that you can’t send it in the post… you can of course, but that careful layering of ingredients you just spent all that time doing might not look so pretty once it has arrived, and you’ll want a decent amount of bubble wrap.

What DIY gift ideas have you created at Christmas for friends and family?

Until next time x
